The castle of San Marco Argentano dates back, in all probability, to the time of the initial fortification carried out by the Normans from the middle of the 11th century, and in particular to the work of Robert Guiscard.
The structure of the tower is cylindrical in shape with a height of 22 meters and a diameter of 14. Internally it is divided into five floors on which there are as many circular rooms connected by a spiral-shaped staircase: the Hall of Grains, the Hall of Prisons, the Hall of Weapons, the Audience Hall, the Prince’s Hall.
