Banff National Park is full of beautiful mountain landscapes, but Castle Mountain is unrivaled in its uniqueness. It’s not hard to see the reason for its name, as the shape of the mountain is reminiscent of a fortress full of towers that stand out ominously against the evergreen trees of the Canadian mountains. Castle Mountain (Blackfoot: Miistukskoowa) is a mountain located in the Canadian Rockies, about halfway between Banff and Lake Louise. The mountain was named in 1858 by James Hector for its castle-like appearance.
