Wonderland. Deep-sea explorers have discovered a wonderful underwater world hidden in the Guaymas basin, a depression in the seabed of the Gulf of California. Several studies have shown that the heat flow in the bottom of the basin is decidedly high, thanks to numerous hydrothermal springs and natural hydrocarbons. We are talking about a surreal expanse of hydrothermal vents 23 meters high, studded with crystallized gases, pools sparkling with glowing liquids and life forms of a thousand colors, where the hydrothermal fluid bubbles upwards, remaining "trapped" under a mineral protrusion, creating in turn a vaporous cascade effect. The unusual show has probably formed in just 10 years: it is located at a depth of 1,800 meters.
