At an altitude of 1,278 meters above sea level on the Sila plateau, in Calabria, is Lake Ampollino, an artificial basin built in 1927 that bathes three provinces: Cosenza, Crotone and Catanzaro. Nestled between the high mountains Scorciavuoi, Zingomarro, Gariglione and Montenero, the lake has become a natural jewel, surrounded by coniferous forests, firs, pines and holm oaks, a perfect place for winter tourism with ski lifts but also in summer with the possibility of hiking and from June to cross the lake in a pedal boat.
