Salone degli Specchi, in the castle, preserves intact the magnificence that made it famous in the nineteenth century when it was enriched and decorated by Ignazio Perricci da Monopoli (1870-80). It is characterized, on the walls, by large mirrors enclosed in gilded stucco frames and covered on the sides by sumptuous gold weave brocades that descend on elegant sofas upholstered and covered with satin that, together with the Bohemian crystal chandeliers, express the elaborate elegance of Neapolitan Baroque. The ceiling is decorated with a trompe-l’oeil effect with an open perspective on a starry sky from which groups of men and women in Corigliano costumes overlook. Master Perricci was soon called upon to create the Salone degli Specchi at the Quirinale, a reproduction of the one in Corigliano.
