What Christmas would be without the Caggionetti Abruzzesi? A typical sweet Abruzzo that never fails on the table of every family of Abruzzo. Typical especially of the province of Teramo, they are basically half-moon shaped ravioli, stuffed with a filling made of boiled chickpeas, almonds and cocoa – poor ingredients and easy to find – then fried in hot oil. An ancient recipe, handed down from generation to generation with many variations: in another version, for example, the chickpeas are replaced by dried chestnuts, soaked and boiled.
