Like the culture, Bosnian cuisine over the centuries has been influenced by both East and West. Many dishes are reminiscent of Turkish flavors (the Ottoman rule in Bosnia lasted about 500 years), while others are exquisitely Central European (from 1878 to 1918 the country was under Austro-Hungarian administration). In addition to meat, soups are also very popular specialties in Bosnian cuisine. Bósanski Lónac is famous for its rich taste and for the many existing recipes, usually each family has its own that is passed down from generation to generation. In general, you can say that the dish is made of beef or lamb, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, parsley, garlic and pepper. Of course, both meat and vegetables can vary.
