Bor Sang: the village of paper umbrellas

Bor Sang is a village of artisans a few kilometers from Chiang Mai. Its inhabitants are specialized in making paper umbrellas and their exceptional craftsmanship has made the village of Bor Sang famous throughout Thailand. The umbrella itself has become a symbol of the city of Chiang Mai. Here you will find a lot of hand painted umbrellas and large umbrellas suitable for gardens or patios. The design has evolved from classic floral motifs to depictions of the rural landscape of Chiang Mai.
