Caterina de Vigri, from Ferrara and lady-in-waiting to Margherita d’Este, followed her vocation and became the founder and first abbess of the monastery of the Poor Clares of Corpus Domini in Bologna. She was among the first women to take action for the education of girls and was also among the first artists in history. Her body remained incorrupt after her death. Now it is kept in a chapel of the monastery, it is possible to visit her and, one is quite impressed to see a mummy with a hollowed out look observing her worshippers.
