The city of Bled is located in Slovenia, 55 kilometres from the small and lively capital Ljubljana. Extremely close by is also the town of Kraniska Gora, famous for the Ski World Cup races held here in winter. Slovenia is a European country that deserves to be discovered, in the meantime because it is bordered by Italy, with which it shares several important historical phases: Kobarid, the Soča river and then because it reserves interesting typical alpine landscapes (at least in this more north-western part dominated by the Julian Alps). Bled is a pretty town that stands on a lake, Lake Bled, extremely suggestive. The lake has glacial origins, it has inside the only Slovenian island, a small romantic island with a very popular sanctuary that can be reached by typical boats.
All around the lake there is a walk that can be done either on foot or by bicycle, and higher up, on the quite steep shores of the lake stands the Castle, symbol of Bled, as well as many beautiful villas, including the one where Tito loved to spend his holidays, at the time of Yugoslavia. The building is surrounded by a park where roe deer graze in the evening.
