One of Lucca’s most illustrious citizens, if not the most illustrious of all, was the composer Giacomo Puccini, who saw the light in Lucca on December 22, 1858. He grew up in the city, began his musical studies and composed his first works as an adolescent and then moved to Milan to continue/refine his art. His birth house, now Puccini Museum, was sold by his father in a moment of economic difficulty, only to be bought back by Giacomo himself after the resounding success of Manon Lescaut. Visiting Puccini’s house allows you to learn about the life and works of this great character as well as to admire some interesting objects that belonged to him.
