Ghosts and Legends

Berry Pomeroy Castle

Berry Pomeroy Castle was originally built in 12th century. It remained in the hand of Pomeroy family until 1547 when the family was forced to sell it to the Somerset for financial crisis. The castle was abandoned in 1688 and now one of the most haunted places in the world. Two female ghosts are reported to haunt the castle; the blue lady and the white lady. The blue lady was rumored to kill her own child. Her ghost now lured the passers-by to the tower and they fall for their death. According to legend, the white lady is the ghost of Margaret Pomeroy who was imprisoned by her sister, who was jealous of her beauty and the poor lady was starved to dead. Lady Pomeroy still haunts the dungeon. This is indeed one of the most haunted places in England.
