The civic tower, known as Campanone, is a historical monument of the city of Bergamo. The Campanone is part of the network of the Bergamo History Museum managed by Fondazione Bergamo nella storia. At the top, reachable on foot (230 steps) or more comfortably by lift, you will find the largest bell in Lombardy. Even today, every evening at 10.00 p.m., the Campanone still beats its suggestive one hundred chimes as a perennial reminder of the closing of the city gates, along the walls, during the Venetian domination.
