An obligatory stop on a walk through the centre of Belluno is Piazza dei Martiri, with its characteristic "liston". The square, which owes its current name to the tragic events of the Resistance, for which the city was awarded the gold medal for military valour, is overlooked by the 16th century church of S. Rocco, near which there is a plaque commemorating one of the most famous people from Belluno: Dino Buzzati.
