Asianòt are shortbread biscuits. Despite the secrecy of the recipe, it is known that the ingredients are: flour, sugar, eggs and butter. The Asianòt are produced in Asigliano Vercellese and are prepared by hand.Asionot were the favorite sweets of Countess Marianna Buronzo, noblewoman of a family that had ruled the country from 1650 until 1856.
They were offered to guests at large parties. The secret was kept for about a hundred years but, then, in 1975, the recipe came into the hands of a well-known confectioner of Asigliano who began to prepare them. Hence their name.
