Artstetten Castle is a château near the Wachau valley in Lower Austria.
The first record of the name Artstetten was in the mid-13th century. Soon afterwards the medieval fortress became a castle that had a rapid succession of different owners, until Emperor Franz I. acquired it in 1823. In the middle of a dreamy park – there is this “fairytale castle. The permanent exhibition “Archduke Franz Ferdinands Life & Actions” offers a glimpse into the multifaceted world of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his family.
