A shopping paradise, meeting place and medieval ambience all in one, Merano’s arcades are the heart of the town. The 400-meter-long arcades are divided into the mountain arcades and the water arcades (those in the valley). A straight path leads across the Post Bridge, with its mosaic-decorated bridge posts and golden balustrade, to the historic 14th century Bolzano Gate. From here, after a short ascent, the arcades of Merano begin. Now the path gently descends between the arches of the historic buildings to the Wheat Square, the opposite beginning of this magnificent shopping street.
