The town hall presents itself to all residents and guests of Rostock as an architecturally striking, historical place in the middle of the city. The city hall dating back to the 13th century is an interesting mixture of Brick Gothic and Baroque architecture. The Baroque porch was built in front of the Gothic wall in the beginning of the 18th century. It may be the oldest brick Gothic town hall in Germany.
