Palmengarten is one of the two botanical gardens in Frankfurt. It is located in the Westend-Süd district and covers an area of 22 hectares. Botanical collections are presented according to the plant origin, that is, both in the open air and in air-conditioned greenhouses. The latter contain, above all, numerous tropical and subtropical species.

The Palmengarten was built in 1871 according to the design of the architect Heinrich Siesmayer. During World War II, the garden was severely damaged. Its reconstruction and expansion began in the sixties and lasted another three decades. In the new version, the garden was made available to the public in 1992.

In 1890, Buffalo Bill, an American showman and previously an American army scout during the American Civil War, organized his performances on the subject of the Wild West.
