Illustrated by photographs, documents and first editions the museum affords an insight into the life of Robert Musil, whose works rank among the classics of the modern age. Robert Musil ( 6 November 1880 – 15 April 1942) was an Austrian philosophical writer. His unfinished novel, The Man Without Qualities is generally considered to be one of the most important and influential modernist novels. The Literature Museum, located in his birthplace, also exhibits the life and work of Christine Lavant and Ingeborg Bachmann. During the Festival of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt the Ingeborg Bachmann prize is awarded, one of the most important awards for contemporary literature in the German-speaking world.
