The Munch Museum is a painting museum dedicated to the artist Edvard Munch. The museum has the largest collection of works by Edvard Munch. Here you can see why the artist is considered the pioneer of Expressionism. Munch was one of the pioneers of Expressionism and played a big role in the development of modern painting. His masterpieces from the 1890s, such as The Scream, Madonna, Vampire, Jealousy and The Kiss are now icons and some of the most well-known paintings in the world. The Munch Museum accommodates the testamentary bequest of the Norwegian painter to the city of Oslo. To its inside it accommodates approximately 1100 paintings, 3000 drawings and 18000 lithographs. It stands in Tøyen, in the northeastern part of Oslo, Norway, next to the botanical garden and the natural history museum.
