Ljubljana

The city of Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, is situated at the confluence of the Ljubljanica and Sava rivers and is the administrative, political, artistic, and cultural center of the country. The city is the largest and most populated in Slovenia. Ljubljana's historic center is centered around the square of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, where some of the most important monuments are located, including the Cathedral of Stolnica Sv. Nikolaja, the Seminary, the Bishop's Palace, the oldest hotel in Ljubljana, and the Pri kolovratu tavern.The view from the top of the hill that houses the castle includes the Triglav, red-roofed buildings, the river that runs through the city, and the Triple Bridge. The Narodni muzej, the national museum, and the Gallery of Modern Art, which hosts the International Biennial of Graphic Arts, are not to be missed. Ljubljana, although influenced by many cultures, still retains a typically Slavic atmosphere, but with a touch of Austrian architecture, recognizable in the presence of numerous guglielo in the city skyline.Life around the river is vibrant, with open-air clubs along the quay, chaotic passerby traffic, and colorful boats cruising along it and passing under elegant bridges, creating a picturesque picture of the Slovenian capital.
