The Civic Museum of San Pietro Avellana is located in the highest part of the town, completely destroyed by bombing in 1943, as evidenced by some war finds in the museum. It was built with stones recovered from the rubble of the war, in memory of the lost architectural heritage and as evidence of the activity, in the past widespread, of stonemasons. Its interior is divided into rooms, recreating the places of peasant and bourgeois civilization. In a first room there are the kitchen, the double bedroom, the curiosity corner, a classroom, a corner of sacred art and the tailoring corner, with wedding dresses and a showcase of period costumes, numerous and of great value, from 1600 to the present day.

In the archaeological section are exhibited the trousseaus from the necropolis of Piana Fusaro, they differ according to the sex of the deceased: the male tombs bear the weapons and the razor, often deposited together, while the female trousseaus present tools related to textile activities (spindles, spools, needles), ornaments and jewellery (necklaces made of amber and glass paste, fibulae, bracelets, chains with pendants).

The Museum also includes a very rich archive of period photos. Through the atrium you enter the second room, where the ancient trades are recreated: the shoemaker, the woodcutter, the cheese maker, the saddler, the mason/cooper, the beekeeper, the fisherman, the carpenter and the blacksmith. There are numerous tools for working the fields and raising animals, with various tools used for the processing and processing of wool, with particular reference to transhumance.
