Bauhaus Archive

The Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung houses the world’s largest collection relating to the history of the Bauhaus (1919–1933), the 20th century’s most important school of architecture, design and art. The iconic building in Klingelhöferstrasse designed by Walter Gropius is currently undergoing renovation and will be expanded with a new annex. While the renovation and expansion of the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung continues, the temporary bauhaus-archiv in Berlin-Charlottenburg remains open to visitors. It features a varied programme that highlights the collection of the Bauhaus-Archiv and addresses contemporary issues of design, architecture and society. The temporary actively engages with its visitors and the public and addresses topics related to the future tasks and programmes of the new museum. The temporary is a project venue which for technical reasons cannot display any originals from the archive. Until the museum reopens, the bauhaus-shop can also be found at the temporary.
