Located roughly about 10 kilometres away from the green land, is the Al Ain Zoo. Remembered as one of the oldest zoos in UAE, it was founded by Sheik Zayed. The then ruler showed a high interest in wildlife protection area and took part in several projects to preserve them. The Al-Ain Zoo is spread over 500 hectares of land. It is home to over 4500 different animals from around 100 species. The zoo underwent a complete remodelling to set the habitat conditions for these animals. The yesteryear rulers and the present operating team put the comfort of these animals first which are not the native of the desert.
Some of the artificially created habitats in the zoo are:
Big Cat Oasis
Hippo and Crocodile Exhibits
African Habitat
Bird House
Asian Habitat
If you are travelling with your family or kids, be sure to spend your weekend here. We are sure kids will have a lovely time seeing the animals.
