Aït-Ben-Haddou: The fortified city in the Throne of Swords

Follow the history of Daenerys Targaryen through the Bay of the Slavers and the Free Cities: the Moroccan Aït-Ben-Haddou is a ksar (a fortified city) located about 100 kilometers from Marrakech and rises majestically on a hill overlooking a vast and dry land, and a river sometimes without water. Thanks to its almost perfect state of preservation, and its historical importance, it is considered a very popular destination among tourists… and film professionals. Located on the fictitious continent of Essos, in the world of the television series The Iron Throne, Aït-Ben-Haddou is transformed into Yunkai, the smallest of the three cities in the Bay of Slaves, and Pentos, the largest of the Free Cities. Certainly, Aït-Ben-Haddou is not a new location in the world of cinema. Since 1960 it has appeared in various Hollywood films and series, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander the Great, Babel and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, to name just a few.
