The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are an unusual set of sandstone formations covering 17 km2 in northeastern Bohemia, Czech Republic. They are named after two neighbouring municipalities: Adršpach and Teplice nad Metují.
The rocks have been protected as a national nature reserve since 1933, and since 1991 the entire Broumovsko region has enjoyed the status of a protected landscape area.
It is also known as the "City of Rocks" and in fact it seems to be in an unreal place, so beautiful, almost a movie set. Surely it is far from Prague but I recommend you to rent a car and go there (it’s about 200km away.. but the roads in the Czech Republic are pleasant). You will be fascinated by the rocks and their shapes, their majesty. Fascinating also the lake that you will find at the entrance. There are beautiful paths in the middle of these huge rocks, and stairs to climb to the viewpoints. For lovers of nature and photography this natural park is a must. A surreal place in the heart of Europe.
The area is also one of the largest permanent breeding sites of the peregrine falcon in Europe, which are protected here by federal law.
Some areas have even been designated as off limits, for climbers and hikers, just to make sure the birds were not disturbed in their daily lives.
This unusual place is also one of the fantastic locations in the fantasy film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
