The acropolis of Acrocorinth, the ancient powerful and rich city of Corinth, was an impenetrable fortress protected by three lines of defence, built during the Byzantine Empire. Considered one of the most important medieval fortresses in Greece, today it is a tourist attraction of the famous Peloponnese city. It dominates a rocky spur over the ruins of the temple of Aphrodite, which became a church and then a mosque. To get there and walk along the walls it is good to bring comfortable shoes to tackle the steep terrain.
