Achilleion Palace is an imposing summer residence located on the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. It was built in 1890 by the Austrian princess Elizabeth of Bavaria, known as Sissi, who had chosen the island of Corfu as her vacation spot because of its beauty and mild climate.The palace was designed by Italian architect Raffaele Caritto, and features a mix of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to baroque.
